Every seat became family.

Thousands of Tempoyak Oysters found new believers.

The sloppy DUDA Burger picked up awards.

Hidden Malaysian flavours, finally had their moment.

All from the cosy, homey Goodcup space in Nunhead.

We weren't here to recreate Malaysia.

We were here to tell our version.

One plate. One conversation.

One "You have to try this at least once in your life."

This isn't goodbye. Just the end of this chapter.

This Autumn,

we're bringing our living room and kitchen from South East London to West London.

New residency. New dishes. Same unapologetically Melayu soul.

Oh, thank you, Nunhead! See you soon!

...and

Sorry About the Smell.

Our Journey

"...FOOD IS OUR LOVE LANGUAGE"

DUDA DINER started with us; Hakeem and Zura - a Malaysian couple cooking, dreaming and building a life together in South East London. Our food is rooted in the things we love most; mom’s cooking, our favourite local makan spots back home and those unforgettable roadside meals that always hit the spot. We take those flavours and adapt them to create a menu that’s playful, personal and always full of heart.

DUDA isn’t a real word. It’s a feeling, an expression! It’s the hum we make when we’re cooking, the little rhythm of joy that fills the kitchen. That little dance you do after the first bite, the grin you can’t hide when something tastes just right, that’s “dudadu dudadu!”. It’s our way of saying “This is it!”

At DUDA DINER, we do family-style. Vibrant plates in the middle, pass it here, pass it there. We press pause on life and focus on what’s in front of us. Good food, good people and a moment to just be. It’s the way we eat at home and the way we love to feed others.

DUDA DINER was born during the pandemic after one too many episodes of the Japanese TV series Midnight Diner. Inspired by the way food could tell deeply human stories, we started imagining what a Malaysian version might look like in London - one built around memory, hospitality and the dishes that stay with you long after the last bite. Missing the flavours we grew up with and the everyday Malaysian dishes we loved most, we started our first long-term residency in South East London with a menu called Goreng Goreng. That little spark eventually grew into DUDA DINER - a pop-up kitchen, supper club and a space for stories and memories, all while serving seriously finger-licking-good Malaysian classics and putting our personal favourites on the map, one plate at a time.

DUDA DINER is our love letter to Malaysia, but it’s also our legacy for our four kids; Thalia, Alaia, Anais and Idris - continuously sharing Malaysian food, not just as comfort, but as culture and celebration.
